The first marijuana dispensary in Florida to receive state approval to process is now delivering cannabis door to door throughout the state.

However, these two types of genetically modified cannabis are only available to those who have received a prescription.

“First we must verify that this patient must have an active order prior to making a delivery,” said Kim Rivers, the president and CEO of Trulieve.

According to the Florida Department of Health, only about 80 physicians throughout the state are licensed to prescribe.

The two types of cannabis available include a low THC level version available to those who suffer from muscle spasms, chronic seizures or cancer. Medical marijuana, which has a higher level of THC, will only be available to those who are determined to be terminal patients by two physicians.

On Tuesday, several families of chronically or terminally ill children toured the Trulieve dispensary.

“Every parent in our shoes will fight for the option for us and anyone who wants it, because that’s only fair.” said Moriah Barnhart, a parent of a chronically ill child.
