ADP, a Fortune 250 company worth more than $40 billion, has set up a new regional headquarters in Maitland.

One person who will benefit from the hiring surge is 22-year-old Kelsey Gordon. She went to college out of state, but now she’s happy to be back home in Central Florida, working as a recruiting specialist for ADP.

“Everybody [at ADP] has a smile on their face all the time," Gordon said.

She's just one of the first 500 employees, but ADP is planning on hiring another 1,100, bringing their total to 1,600 positions at their Maitland facility.

“Every company has different needs, but it always comes down to people," Gov. Rick Scott said. "If we have the right workforce, we’re going to get more jobs."

Said Debbie Dyson, ADP's corporate vice president of client experience: “Diversity is important. Obviously, the universities and the education, transportation, the amenities, everything else that we obviously saw. So when we came and did our sourcing, it all lined up and then some. It really made our decision (to come here) easy."

ADP leaders alluded to the fact that if things go well with the 1,600 jobs in Maitland, they might expand their workforce again and bring more people to Central Florida.

“This is just the beginning of something much bigger, so we just see this as the first step of hopefully many more to come, around additional expansion we see here," Dyson said.

ADP specializes in human resources and payroll technology. According to Scott, the hiring represents a $28 million investment in the area.

At the job announcement event, officials said the diverse and growing industry will be a major economic boost for Orange County’s economy.

“I’m definitely very excited to be a part of ADP and to start in the Maitland office. It’s going to be really something new and special," Gordon said.

Most of the new local ADP positions will be client- and customer service-based jobs in the human resource management industry.
