“It is with great sadness that we deliver to you today the heartbreaking news of the passing of our Commissioner Frank Meeker,” County Administrator Craig Coffey said. “We were informed that he died early this morning surrounded by his family.”

The 61-year-old Meeker was the county’s District 2 commissioner. In 2012 he was elected to the Board of County Commissioners and he was re-elected in 2014.

In 2007 Meeker was elected to the Palm Coast City Council.

Commission Chairwoman Barbara Revels stated in a press release that Meeker was an advocate for the environment and an advocate for Flagler County.

“He fought for the things he was passionate about, like getting a $500,000 grant for the Malacompra Basin Water Quality Enhancement Project,” she stated.

On his profile page on the county website, it stated that Meeker held a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Sciences and a Master of Science degree in Coastal Resources.

The Palm Coast Observer reported that Meeker died of cancer and was married to his wife Debbie for three decades and had two sons together.
