A teenager who was hit and killed by a car that drove off early Wednesday in east Orange County has been identified, and two teenagers have been arrested in connection with a stolen car that might have hit him, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The victim, identified as 15-year-old Nathan Franceschi, was hit on Carpenter Road, near Grissom Road, at about 2 a.m. The teen died at Florida Hospital East.

A trooper at the scene told News 13 that a neighbor saw a person on the ground.

Additionally, according to the FHP, a 2013 Kia was found at a Burger King just west of the crash location. Troopers said the Kia was reported stolen overnight. Investigators are trying to determine whether the Kia was the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run.

Troopers say the Kia appears to have new damage on it, but they towed the vehicle away so it can be further inspected.

Two 16-year-olds, a boy and girl, were arrested and charged with stealing the car. They were taken to a hospital to be medically cleared and then they will be booked into a juvenile facility, according to FHP.
