In the face of yet another attack on police in the U.S., one Central Florida community came together Sunday to support their local police and law enforcement everywhere.

The community of Titusville made it clear at a rally at Sand Point Park that they support the men and women who chose to protect and serve.

Hundreds of people at the rally shared prayers, songs and worship. Attendees were encouraged to wear blue as a show of solidarity.

“Police all over the country have been finger pointed at, we want to make sure that they understand this is a different type of place and we support them 100 percent,” said Titusville mayor Jim Tully.

But solidarity and healing does not come easily when the violence seems neverending.

“It seems like we can't heal from one event, we can't come together as a community and support each other through one event before we get knocked down by the next event,” said Reverend Nancy Oliver of Cathedral Church of St. Luke.

At the rally, people one by one stood up to shake the hands of officers and deputies. Residents also signed a banner with heartfelt messages for members of the Police Department to keep.

“Reenergizes your ability to come out and do the job night after night," said Titusville Police Sergeant Shaun Anderson, "and to know that the community is there behind you and supporting you."
