It can be frustrating and extremely dangerous when vehicles use an entrance lane as a means to speed up and get in front of other traffic. One Kissimmee viewer voiced his displeasure this past week.

  • Many residents are not happy with some drivers
  • Some drivers make illegal moves on Osceola Parkway

"There should be something done to block traffic using the Turnpike on-ramp lane from Osceola Parkway to get ahead of traffic in the left lane. Drivers zoom carelessly zoom back into the straight lane without stopping. I've nearly been hit multiple times. I've also witnessed near hits, where I've actually gasped out loud!"

Peak times or not, you can always expect plenty of vehicles near Osceola Parkway's entrance ramp to Florida's Turnpike in Kissimmee. And lots of vehicles means you are bound to catch a few drivers with habits that may be a little less ... legal.

In fact, we saw several vehicles cutting back over dangerously into the Osceola Parkway from the Turnpike right-only lane. Many residents dread the area.

"Well, there's a lot of accidents for one,” said local resident Nadine Roman. “You can't see on the other side of the road when you're driving into the Turnpike. You have accidents out here mostly every day."

Roman lives close by and uses the interchange on a daily basis. The last accident she saw at the interchange was a bad one.

"There were two cars involved from what I saw and I think it was a head-on collision."

When we visited the area ourselves, we noticed how easy it is for a driver traveling Westbound on the Osceola Parkway to get stuck in the Turnpike only right lane without intending to. Nadine Roman has had this same issue frequently and thinks simple signage would in this case not be the answer.

"They should at least block off to go to the 'Turnpike Only' with something," Roman said.

For the meantime, Roman says that too many drivers panic when they find themselves in the Turnpike Only lane and that's when bad accidents can happen.

"Oh. My. God!” she exclaimed. “Kissimmee cannot drive."

News 13 reached out to Osceola County Road and Bridge on Thursday who was able to confirm for us that that portion of the Osceola Parkway is under their jurisdiction. However, they did not reach back out to us for comment regarding any future changes or even if a future study was going to take place.

We hope that answers your question for now Ruiz! If you at home have a traffic issue, we will try and solve it for you! Go to www.mynews13.com/trafficinbox and just fill out a simple form.
