Let's check out Thursday's forecast for Central Florida:

  • Highs will be in the low 90s
  • Storms will greet the afternoon, evening
  • 50-60 percent rain chance through July 4

Overnight we will have partly to mostly cloudy conditions with only an isolated shower or storm as our temperature falls to near 75.  More sea breeze storms are due to fire Thursday afternoon through mid-evening.

A Bermuda high, or blocking ridge of high pressure stretched from the Atlantic into the Gulf of Mexico is holding at bay an extended area of low pressure stretched down across the eastern U.S. The end result is a deep flow of moisture streaming into the peninsula, keeping us hot and humid. In typical summertime fashion, storms have been firing up along the sea breezes, with a collision over central interior neighborhoods. We’ll keep this pattern in play and a 50-60 percent rain chance through the 4th of July. Highs stay in the 90s.

A small east to east-southeast trade swell means poor conditions for surfers. Waves remain at or below the rest of this week. Surface water temps are in the low 80s around Daytona Beach, and mid-80s around Cocoa Beach. The UV index is extreme, with a sunburn possible in minutes.
