A Minor League Baseball team that has called Brevard County home for more than two decades is moving to Osceola County.

  • Minor league baseball team Manatees called Brevard County home for more than 20 years
  • The team is moving to Osceola County

Osceola County leaders will officially announce Wednesday that the Brevard County Manatees are relocating to Kissimmee.

It comes after Osceola County lost both the Houston Astros to West Palm Beach and United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) to Brevard County.

USSSA, which governs several amateur sports, is heading to Space Coast Stadium in Viera. That's where the Brevard Manatees currently play.

The Manatees have played in Brevard County since 1994, sub-leasing the stadium through the Washington Nationals.

Both the Nationals and Astros have teamed up to leave their current spring training facilities and move into a new stadium together in West Palm Beach.

The Manatees found this the right opportunity to leave.

Brevard County leaders say they’re sorry to see the Manatees go, but they're excited about the big boost in visitors they're expecting from hosting USSSA competitions.

The Manatees will start playing at Osceola County Stadium next year.
