A 62-year-old man was seriously injured and a family dog died in a two-alarm apartment fire in Altamonte Springs early Friday morning.

A 12-year-old child and 59-year-old woman escaped unharmed, the Seminole County Fire Department said.

The fire broke out just before 5 a.m. at the Autumn Ridge Apartments in the 600 block of Northlake Boulevard.

The man, who has not been identified, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

The American Red Cross is assisting the rescued victims. Altamonte Springs fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
