The crash happened at mile marker 261 at 6:30 p.m. A pickup truck containing workers assigned to interstate construction was stopped facing eastbound, on the right paved shoulder, of southbound I-95, troopers said.

Even though it was marked as a construction area, the other vehicle traveling southbound on I-95, driven by 56-year-old Alfred Weaver, drove onto the paved shoulder. The front of that vehicle hit the left side of the pickup truck driven by 57-year-old Clay Suber, FHP stated.

The drivers of both vehicles died. Both were wearing seat belts, according to FHP.

Patrick Tucker, 19, was taken to Halifax Medical Center with serious injuries.
