A Lake County woman is offering a $200 reward after part of a mannequin was stolen from her boat dock in the Emerald Lakes Mobile Home Park in Clermont.

  • 'Baby Doll' mannequin kept on the dock for boaters to enjoy
  • Local boaters raised money to purchase a replacement mannequin
  • Lower half of the mannequin found in the water

On April 23, Eve Bowditch says she saw two boaters on her dock late at night. She says when she turned on the light they left but her mannequin was gone.

Bowditch says the mannequin belonged to her husband who recently passed away. She says he named it, ‘Baby Doll,’ and kept it on the dock for boaters to enjoy.

“She's got 20 bathing suits and 13 wigs so it kept me busy keeping her changed every now and then,” said Bowditch.

Local boaters Keri Caridi and Ginger Howard heard about the theft on Facebook and raised the money to buy Eve a replacement mannequin they’ve named, “Lady Clermont.”

“I know it's not the same ‘Baby Doll,’ but we wanted to bring that back to the dock, so many people driving by on their boats, riding by in their boats could smile and laugh and take pictures,” said Caridi.

Clermont Police found the bottom half of the mannequin in the water but Eve hopes the reward will prompt someone to return the other half.

Lady Clermont even has its own Facebook page -- with lots of followers.
