Here’s what you need to know about Central Florida's weather on Wednesday:

  • 30 percent chance of showers and storms through thr week
  • Highs in the low 90s
  • Moderate rip current risk over the next few days

Central Florida's severe storms Tuesday caused flooding and other damage throughout the area. One area hit hard was the Ginger Creek neighborhood near the University of Central Florida.

An oak tree in Allison Morton's backyard was uprooted and thrown over a fence by high winds Tuesday night. Winds in this area were about 45-50 miles per hour when the storm moved through.

“No way anybody knew a storm was coming like that," Morton said. "It just came out of nowhere. It just came out of nowhere.”

WEDNESDAY'S FORECAST

Any showers or storms that have formed will continue to dissipate through midnight.  Under a mostly cloudy sky, temperatures will dip only to near 70 by sunrise. Not much change as we welcome June, with heat, humidity and afternoon storm chances. Welcome to wet season.

Only an isolated shower remains possible overnight with clouds breaking a bit. Not much change Wednesday through Saturday, with plenty of heat and humidity, and a 30 percent to 40 percent rain chance each afternoon/evening. Highs remain in the low 90s into the weekend.

Rain chances bump to 50 percent by Sunday into Monday with tropical moisture streaming in from a system in the Gulf.

Ocean swells and tides will combine to create a moderate rip current risk again the next couple days, so be sure you’re swimming near a life guard stand. Poor to fair conditions are in the surfing forecast through the end of the week, with wave heights occasionally reaching thigh high. Water temperatures have warmed into the low 80s from Daytona Beach to Cocoa Beach.
