One of the suspects in an armed robbery was shot and killed by deputies during a traffic stop in DeLand early Sunday afternoon.

No deputies were injured.

Deputies say they pulled over the suspects at Firehouse Road and S. Woodland Boulevard (US Hwy 17-92).

The suspects, a man and woman, were wanted for robbing two victims at gunpoint at the Orange City park-n-ride.

Deputies received a call at approximately 12:30 p.m. that the car involved was on US Hwy 17-92.

According to deputies, when they pulled the vehicle over, the male passenger got out and was armed with a knife. Deputies said he did not comply with their orders.

Three deputies fired their guns. The man, who hasn't been identified yet, was killed.

FDLE will investigate. The deputies involved are on paid leave.

Deputies say the female suspect is in custody and cooperating. This is the second deputy-involved shooting within the last few weeks.
