Here is the latest weather information for Central Florida:

  • Showers and storms for the holiday weekend
  • Upper 80s for the rest of the week
  • Invest 91 has a 50 percent chance for formation

Mostly clear overnight with temperatures falling into the middle 60s and remaining dry. It will be a bit more humid Thursday, but still not too bad with dew points near 60 degrees.  Plenty of sun will warm us back into the upper 80s.

High pressure building over the southeast will encompass all of Florida for the next few days, keeping our flow on shore and most of us rain free.  Under a clear sky overnight, anticipate lows in the mid 60s. Winds remain onshore Thursday, increasing in the afternoon.

We’re forecasting sunshine and highs in the upper 80s. Much the same for Friday, with a slight increase in our chance for rain, up to 20 percent.  We are watching an area of low pressure form about 750 miles from the coast to our east.

Invest 91 has about a 50 percent chance for formation over the next 5 days.  If it does evolve, our rain chances could very well go up by the end of our weekend.  Right now, all indications keep whatever forms off our shore and closer to the Carolinas early next week.

Surfing conditions remain poor Thursday, but for those of you wanting some wave action, keep an eye on the weekend forecast. Low pressure off our east coast may kick up some pretty good sets. Until then, wave heights may be knee to occasionally thigh high. An onshore flow and various swell mixes will create a moderate threat for rip currents once again. Our ultra violet index continues to be very high, so reapply sunscreen.
