Here's what you need to know about Central Florida's weather for the week ahead:

  • More hot and dry conditions in Central Florida
  • Plenty of sun over the next few days
  • Rain chances return to the forecast later this week

High pressure will yield to a dry, bright day for much of Central Florida.

Highs will returns to the upper 80s to around 90 degrees, which is on target for the average this time in May.

Winds will be light from the east. Scattered clouds will mix with the sun during the afternoon. Quiet, clear conditions are slated for the overnight. Lows will fall to the upper 60s.

Wednesday and Thursday will offer similar conditions. Outside of a stray afternoon shower, the majority of the week will be dry. That will change by Friday when afternoon showers and storms begin to return to the forecast.

Added moisture will contribute to higher rain chances both Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

Favorable beach and boating weather is projected for today. Winds will be light from the east around 5-10 knots. This will produce a light chop along the Intracoastal Waterway. With a small east-southeast trade swell in the water, the rip current threat returns to the moderate range today. Those venturing into the surf zone are encouraged to stay near a lifeguard.
