Here's what you need to know about Central Florida's weather for the rest of the week:

  • Temperatures stay around 90 degrees
  • Chance for afternoon thunderstorms
  • Best rain, storm chances will be Wednesday

Any lingering showers and storms should be dissipating around midnight or shortly after. Otherwise, it will remain mostly cloudy and warm, with temperatures only falling to near 70 by sunrise. Showers and storms will be scattered Tuesday and Wednesday as our chance for rain increases to 70 percent Wednesday.

Heat and humidity are about to be replaced, as a strong May cold front punches across the southeast Wednesday. Looks beautiful late in the week.

A large ridge of high pressure responsible for our recent stretch of heat will begin breaking down, thanks to a strong late season cold front swinging across the southeast Wednesday.  Until then, any lingering showers and storms will end around midnight tonight, with patchy fog developing late.

Another round of afternoon showers and storms are set to develop Tuesday, and a few strong storms are possible. Highs reach the upper 80s to lower 90s. As the front sweeps in Wednesday, another round of strong to severe storms will be possible, especially late morning into the afternoon. Highs cool slightly into the low 80s Wednesday through Saturday.

We’ve had a few isolated showers near our beaches, but better chances for scattered activity may have some of you scurrying for cover the next couple days with the approach of a cold front. Poor surfing conditions are expected again Tuesday, with wave heights around knee high. We’ll keep the rip current risk moderate. Water temps have warmed to 80 at Cocoa Beach.
