Disney Cruise Line says that on Friday, they reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that about 3 percent of the passengers on the cruise ship were ill.

The cruise ship can accommodate 2,400 passengers in 875 staterooms and has a crew of about 950.

Disney said the ship was on a four-night sailing out of Miami and returned to Miami on Sunday. It's now on a 14-night repositioning voyage to San Diego.

Disney Cruise Line released the following statement Monday:

Our primary focus was on taking care of our guests and crew. We have a comprehensive plan that outlines protocols for managing this kind of situation and closely follow CDC guidelines for preventing the spread of common stomach-related illnesses.

The Disney Wonder entered into service in 1999.
