Brevard County-based police dogs are now safer while on duty thanks to a local businessman's generous donation.
On Monday, Ring's Manufacturings of West Melbourne, maker of training weapons, gave 32 armored vests to police agencies across the Space Coast, including the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.
Officers and their K-9 partners gathered at Melbourne's Wickham Park to receive their new vests.
“It's the same level of protection the officers wear, plus it's stab resistant,” said Paul Ring.
Last November Titusville Police Department K-9 Jack was stabbed on a call. He made a full recovery and will receive a new vest too.
