Two rehabilitated sea turtles are back home in the sea, thanks to caregivers at the Brevard Zoo.

  • 2 sea turtles released back to ocean after rehabilitation
  • 'Chad,' 'Mr. President' were found in January, February, respectively

"Chad" was found in rough shape and covered with barnacles in Indian Harbour Beach in January.

"Mr. President" — appropriately named — was found likely suffering from a predator attack at the Barrier Island Sanctuary on President's Day.

Both juvenile green turtles were released back into the ocean at the sanctuary Tuesday morning surrounded by a big crowd.

"We are doing a really good job of getting the turtles in, finding what care they need right away, getting them treated and back into the ocean as quickly as possible," said Malie Stadler of the zoo's Sea Turtle Release Team.

This is the latest release by the Brevard Zoo Sea Turtle Healing Center.
