Two people are dead and another four were sent to the hospital after a head-on crash Monday in Lake County.

The crash happened at 5:05 p.m. near the intersection of State Road 19 and Ravenswood Road in Altoona.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Joseph Miller, 33, was driving a 1999 Lincoln sedan south on SR-19 when, for unknown reasons, he crossed into the northbound lanes and crashed into a northbound 2005 Chevy pickup truck.

Miller died at the scene, as did the driver of the truck, identified as David Bookhardt, 63, of Chattanooga.

Lori Miller, 36, was critically injured, while 8-year-old Logan and 12-year-old William received minor injuries.

Vickie Bookhardt, 60, sustained serious injuries.
