The Orlando Police officer who was injured during a traffic stop is recovering after spinal cord surgery, according to the Orlando Police Department.

The department posted a picture of Will Anderson after his surgery Tuesday and said he was showing signs of improvement.

Anderson was injured last July when he was run over by a suspect during a traffic stop near Kirkman Road and Vineland Street. In the dash-cam video released by OPD, Anderson is seen approaching the driver’s door when the passenger gets out and runs off. When Anderson attempts to go after the passenger, the driver hits him. Anderson fired three shots as the car sped away, police said.

The three men involved were arrested.

Anderson was airlifted to a hospital from a rehab center over the weekend after his condition “deteriorated significantly.”

Orlando Police said Anderson should return to a rehab facility, depending on the outcome of the surgery.
