Here's what you need to know about Central Florida's weather for the weekend:

  • Hot end to the work week
  • Heating up this weekend
  • Little rainfall expected

Any isolated lingering showers and rumbles will fall apart by midnight with most of us remaining dry. Under partly cloudy conditions, our temperatures will only fall into the upper 60s, several degrees above normal. Patches of fog is anticipated to form and disperse just after our 6:45am sunrise. Highs will be near 90 again Saturday afternoon.

More heat this weekend as a ridge of high pressure continues to influence our large scale pattern.  Wind will be shifting from the southwest Saturday, pushing the east coast sea breeze inland in the early afternoon.

Isolated showers and storms will form along the breeze, especially as it encounters the west coast sea breeze. Our chance for rain is still only 20 percent or less. Highs this weekend near 90, with some spots even in the low 90s.

Shower and storm chances increase by next Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs still in the upper 80s.

This weekend we maintain a moderate rip current risk for swimmers. Wave heights are forecast to remain about ankle to knee high, so poor surfing conditions remain in place. Water temps range from 74 at Daytona to 77 at Cocoa Beach. On a scale from 1 to 12, UV index is 10, so quite high so be sure to put on plenty of SPF15 or greater if outside for extended periods.
