A Wekiva High School senior battling cancer came up with a clever way to ask his girlfriend to prom.

On Monday morning, Victoria Green walked down the hallway at Florida Hospital Orlando and into the room of her boyfriend, Tashawn Manning.

Victoria had no idea that Tashawn was going to surprise her.

Undergoing daily chemotherapy, Tashawn, 17, is fighting a rare form of leukemia. So when he couldn’t go to school to ask Victoria to prom, he decided to dress up as a doctor and surprise her in a decorated exam room.

“We were sitting there talking about ideas, and I saw an idea about a doctor theme, and I was in the hospital, so I just put two and two together,” Tashawn said.

Victoria was near speechless, full of emotion.

Prom is at the end of April.

As for Tashawn, he signed a letter of intent to play football for Auburn University and hopes to go to school there in about a year, after he’s done with treatments.
