Not far from the historic district in St. Augustine awaits another relic full on new life.

"We wanted there to be kinda a wow factor when they opened the door," says Ryan Dettra, the Ice Plant's co- founder. "You can see the overhead bridge crane, which carried ice back and forth," he said about the massive metal crane above his head.

The ice manufacturing center from 1927 has gone back to its roots. Crews are again producing ice.

"We cut 300-pound blocks," bar manager Zach Lynch said.

What begins as a behemoth-sized frozen block ends up in smaller brick-sized blocks used behind the bar.

"I really want them to have a nice comfortable experience and have them enjoy the atmosphere, the company and the cocktails," Lynch said.

Upstairs, visitors will find a bar and dining space for the menu that changes on average every six weeks, following the farm-to-table movement.

"Everything is made in-house," Lynch said.

The servers wear period clothing. The benches are made from reclaimed wood. The lights are vintage inspired.

And the wood floor comes salvaged from Georgia.

Besides the 100-year-old floors, many visitors comment about how authentic even the restrooms appear.

The women's room features hardware from 100 years ago. Even the thrones are from an European era gone by.

Only the elevator is modern and how they now cut the fresh ice in the kitchen.

"We break them down with a chain saw," said Dettra, as an electric saw rips through the ice, creating what appears to be snow in the kitchen.

"This is original, one-of-a-kind, you can't reproduce this," Dettra said.
