The city of Palm Coast is getting a new tracking system they hope will increase worker productivity.

The new system allows the city to keep better tabs on employees, including checking drivers’ speed, provide road side assistance and maintenance checks.

"I think is going to improve productivity because employees would know if there's a group of people actually monitoring them and what they're doing," said Jay Maher, head of Internal Controls Team.

It'll also continue to catch some in act if they're doing something wrong.

"It's very important to us especially in an investigation," said Maher.

We obtained records of two cases from December 2015 where two city employees were suspended and either were fired or resigned after the city's current system showed they were parked in areas for long periods of time and driving work vehicles home.

The city said the new system will help them investigate these violations even quicker than the old one tracking system.

The new system will cost about $31,000. Palm Coast hopes to have it installed within the next six weeks.
