Orange County Sheriff's investigators are still on the hunt for a suspect in the slaying of a mother and her teenage daughter found dead in their Pine Hills home Monday.

Deputies on Tuesday identified the mother and girl as 36-year-old Maria Sanchez and 16-year-old Destiny Banuelos (grey t-shirt). They were found dead of gunshot wounds.

The man who lived with them returned home at 2:30 p.m. Monday, found their bodies and called 911, investigators said.

"That's too close to home, and when I say close to home, it's right next door," said a next-door neighbor who declined to identify herself Tuesday over fears a murder suspect is at large.

She said the man ran over to her home and said his girlfriend and her daughter were dead.

"He broke down crying and fell in front of my step. He said, 'My girlfriend, my girlfriend, I think she's dead'", she said.

Detectives were back out at the house Tuesday, bringing with them an unidentified man who later left on foot and didn't speak to the media. They brought out bags of evidence and loaded them into a car.

Meanwhile, word of the deaths has quickly spread across the neighborhood.

"We just recently moved here. It's been extremely quiet," neighbor Claire Santiago said.

Santiago walked her two small children to the bus stop Tuesday. She said they haven't met any neighbors yet, and she's keeping a close eye on her windows and doors now.

"You want to feel comfortable in your home when you are there," she said.

The other neighbor who declined to identify herself said she won't rest easy until the person responsible is caught.

"I sure wish they would catch the one that did it," she said.
