SeaWorld Orlando announced Friday it will increase the minimum starting pay for employees to $10 per hour.

Currently the minimum pay is $9.50 per hour. The 50-cent increase will take effect July 1.

SeaWorld also announced it would increase pay rates for almost 100 job titles, both existing positions and new hires, as part of the company’s “commitment to compensate employees with competitive pay.”

The wage increase will apply to SeaWorld’s three Orlando parks: SeaWorld Orlando, Discovery Cove and Aquatica.

“We have incredible ambassadors who are the heart of our organization,” said Christine Elliot O’Neal, Vice President of Human Resources for the three parks.  “These increases to thousands of our current and future ambassadors represent the value they bring to our guests, experiences and mission.”

All three of SeaWorld’s Orlando parks are expected to hire almost 7,000 new employees this year. Positions range from professional roles and front-line leadership to entry level.
