Palm Bay police are hoping to generate new leads to find a fugitive accused of horrific crimes on a child 30 years ago.

Douglas Lee Adams, now 66, is the man investigators are looking for.

In 1996, a 20-year-old woman came forward claiming Adams sexually abused her from the ages of 8 to 12.

"We are hoping somebody, somewhere, recognizes him," said Sgt. Michael Pusatere from the Palm Bay Police Department.

Adams was supposed to turn himself into Palm Bay Police, but that never happened and he has eluded capture ever since.

The U.S. Marshals Service says Adams has been tied to places like Phoenix, Guadalajara, Mexico, and closer to home in Miami, floating around and taking trade jobs paying cash to help keep him under the radar.

Investigators say Adams has assumed several different alias' over the years, including for a time, a dead man from Florida.

The crimes, according to reports, happened at a home on Plantation Circle in the southeastern part of the city.

Residents like Claude and Pam Bartley haven't lived in the neighborhood long, but after News 13 showed then Adam's picture, Pam seemed to recognize him.

"If he's in the area, and he's close, he could be on our street anytime," said Pam Bartley.

Adams has a son and daughter who live in Florida and police say they have been interviewed over the years.  Investigators say it's possible Adams might not even be alive but they say they won't give up the search until they know for sure.

"To not have closure. And that's what we want to get for her. And also to see that justice is served," said Sgt. Pusatere.

Police say there could be more victims out there from over the years.
