The Volusia County Property Appraiser's Office in Daytona Beach reopened for business Monday.

The office inside the county building on North Beach Street closed two weeks ago because of scores of homeless people camped outside the building.

Extra security was added last week, and on Friday, police ordered the people out front to leave the building and go to a shelter.

Police said they would arrest anyone who refused to leave.

The Salvation Army made beds available to those who were camped out near the building.

According to police, one person refused to leave and was arrested.

Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood says officers went under cover in the homeless camp for several weeks and came back with information about what was taking place. They plan to release their findings sometime this week.
