Medical cannabis is a life-saving delivery for a family from St. Cloud, and it came from Knox Medical. Knox is a longtime family farm in the Winter Garden area of Orange County.

"I go from two weeks us both crying because he doesn't want to live anymore, which is so heartbreaking," said Connie, the patient's mother.

Connie, who asked to keep her last name anonymous, said her son Matthew has been sick for eight years.

For the past four years, Matthew has been homebound with severe stomach and leg spasms, bone pain and Crohn's disease.

"So, to me, this medicine is a miracle, and I seriously believe that it's given him hope so he can start over again," Connie said.

Connie said her son has visited 71 doctors and has tried 150 different medicines with the hope of finding relief from the pain.

But nothing has been effective as medical marijuana.

The St. Cloud family was considering moving to Colorado before they learned about medical marijuana being available in Florida.

"I think people need to educate themselves," Connie said. "People need to understand what this medicine is and what it does, not just listen to what other people say."

Matthew, 25, is doing a bit better now, but for years he struggled with little to no appetite.

During that time, his weight dropped from 155 pounds to 115 pounds.

Connie said the low-THC medical cannabis oil, which experts said doesn’t get you high, can heal her son.

"There's no high feeling," she said. "You don't feel anything. It's just your pain goes away. It's unbelievable."

Knox Medical is the first grower in Central Florida to delivery medical marijuana to qualified patients.
