More than 30 people at a Disney World-area condominium complex were displaced Friday morning because of a possible sinkhole, Osceola County Fire Rescue said.

  • About 35 displaced from condo building, according to Red Cross
  • Building at Bahama Bay is not habitable, deputy fire chief says

The suspected sinkhole is on private property next to a lake near the Bahama Bay complex in Kissimmee, near the Four Corners area.

The people were evacuated from a building on Calypso Court. The Red Cross said 35 residents have been impacted in a 16-unit apartment building.

“My family was saying that it is better going to a hotel than staying here, because you don’t know if something will happen anywhere else in this area,” resident Benjamin Feliciano said.

The building is not habitable, according to Osceola Deputy Fire Chief Danny McAvoy.

The Osceola County Sheriff's Office and the Fire Rescue personnel have turned over the scene to complex security.
