Police have arrested three boys in connection with the death of Roger Trindade, a Winter Park High student who was beaten unconscious in October.

Three juveniles were arrested in the case.

Police arrested two 15-year-old boys and charged them with manslaughter and battery, and they arrested a 14-year-old boy and charged him with tampering with a witness.

Police and witnesses said Trindade, 15, was with friends near Central Park in mid-October when someone sprayed something in Trindade's face.

When he went to confront them, he was beaten, kicked and punched. He died from his injuries at a hospital two days later.

The Orange County Medical Examiner determined that Trindade died as a result of blunt force trauma.

Trindade was a student at Winter Park High School and a native of Brazil.

Since his death, Blanca Dauselt has led a fight for justice. Her son also went to Winter Park High School.

“I’m a mom and I thought oh, that could happen to my son because this has been my community for 16 years,” said Dauselt.

Dauselt says she became emotional when she heard the news Wednesday that three teen boys were arrested and charged in Trindade’s death.

“I was shaking, I was a mix of emotions,” said Dauselt. “I cried.”

Dauselt says she heard the news of the arrests from Trindade’s mother, who texted her from Brazil where the family has been since shortly after the teen’s death in October. She’s stayed in close contact with Trindade’s mother for the last several weeks.

“Emotionally she’s drained,” said Dauselt. “She couldn’t believe what they have done to her son because he was a very happy kid. He never complained about anything. He was loving living here in the United States.”

Dauselt says the community effort she’s leading for justice won’t end with the arrests.

“You have to keep doing this because it’s the only way we can find answers,” said Dauselt.
