A man whose RV caught fire during a law enforcement pursuit on Interstate 95 early Saturday is facing a murder charge.

  • Driver of RV that caught fire on I-95 charged with murder
  • Jeffery Rose, 25, died at hospital from gunshot wound

Vero Beach Police said 25-year-old Jeffery Rose was found on the ground with a gunshot wound early Saturday morning at 1660 Old Dixie Highway. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition but died there.

Early in their investigation, police said they identified a possible suspect in the slaying: 22-year-old Christian Sagastume. About 3 p.m. later that day, Indian River County deputies tried to initiate a traffic stop on an RV known to be driven by Sagastume.

Vero Beach Police said he led officers on a high speed chase in the RV, which later caught fire on I-95 in Brevard County.

Police initially arrested Sagastume for attempted murder but upgraded the charges after Rose died Saturday night.

This is an ongoing investigation.
