Police said Friday that a 17-year-old and 15-year-old suspected in a car burglary tried to flee in a car while being apprehended late Thursday night. The car struck a patrol car as it drove off. The pursuit ended in a crash at the end of Cogswell and Hawk streets, and the boys tried to run away.
The 15-year-old driver of the car was apprehended at a nearby home a couple of hours later, police said. He faces felony charges of grand theft, burglary of an unoccupied vehicle and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
The 17-year-old passenger was shot by Cpl. Nick Galluzzi and taken to a hospital. A warrant has been issued for him, police said Monday, but the State Attorney's Office will issue and release his name and determine whether he'll be charged as an adult.
