An Orange County deputy was struck by a car Monday while he was sitting in his parked patrol car along Silver Star Road and Sandy Lane.

  • Both the deputy, driver sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries
  • Law enforcement suspect driver

At around 12:36 a.m., the deputy, whose name has not been released, was sitting in his marked patrol car when he was hit by a four-door Nissan, which was driven by 22-year-old Anthony Serrano Ramos, Sgt. Kim Montes, the Public Affairs officer for the Orange County Sheriff's Office, told News 13.

A blood sample was taken from Ramos because a state trooper suspected that he might have been driving under the influence.

"Charges will be pending against (Ramos) until the blood can be analyzed by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement lab," Montes stated.

Both the deputy and Ramos were taken to the Health Central Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
