We have one more summer-like day Tuesday, with rain developing ahead of a cold front. This is the first real shot of rain we’ve seen since Hurricane Matthew in October.

An area of low pressure moving across the Gulf of Mexico is pulling deep atmospheric moisture across the peninsula. As winds increase from the southwest overnight, more moisture will stream in ahead of a cold front set to slide across our area Tuesday night.

Another very warm, muggy day is expected, with Tuesday highs in the low to mid 80s and a good chance of showers and even some storms.

We’ll cool slightly Wednesday and Thursday before a reinforcing cold front pushes in Thursday night and drops us into the 60s for highs Friday and Saturday.

Although we may see wave heights push over 2 to 3 feet, a slightly bigger southeast wind swell won’t help out surfers. Poor conditions are in the forecast both Tuesday and Wednesday. Sea surface temperatures have been holding steady in the upper 60s and lower 70s along the east coast.
