Two sisters, ages 10 and 12, were killed Wednesday in a two-vehicle crash along Orange Blossom Trail in north Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at about 3:40 p.m. on Orange Blossom Trail and Brownell Street.

According to a report, a four-door Pontiac was northbound on Orange Blossom Trail. A second vehicle, a Cadillac SUV, was southbound on Orange Blossom Trail.

For an unknown reason, the Pontiac traveled into the southbound lanes of OBT, and the front of the SUV struck the right side of the Pontiac, troopers said.

Kayla Johnson, 10, of Orlando was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 12-year-old sister Jasmin Johnson was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, where she died.

The girls' 31-year-old mother, and the driver of the other vehicle were taken to Orange Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

All four people involved in the crash were wearing seat belts, troopers said.

The crash remains under investigation.
