A small plane crashed Tuesday night in Port Orange at the Spruce Creek Fly-in community, killing two people.
The 2009 single-engine Epic LT crashed just before 6 p.m. in front of a home on Taxiway Lindy Loop.
A witness told a Volusia County 911 dispatcher that he saw the plane fly into the fog, and the plane was "in an inverted flat spin when he came out of the fog," according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.
The plane crashed into a front yard but did not hit any homes. No one on the ground was hurt.
Two people on the plane were killed. Their identities will be released once next of kin is notified.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board were notified of the crash.
