Several crew members and one passenger aboard an American Airlines flight to Orlando were assessed by airport medical personnel Friday afternoon after complaints of an odor in the cabin.

American Airlines Flight 1684 from Dallas/Fort Worth, an Airbus A321 with 190 passengers and a crew of six, landed safely after experiencing a mechanical issue involving an odor in the cabin, the airline said.

Upon landing at 2:23 p.m., the patients complained of burning throats and eyes, Orlando International Airport spokeswoman Carolyn Fennell said.

All were evaluated and refused further medical treatment, she said.

The aircraft is out of service while a crew looks into the source of the odor.

American Airlines released the following statement:

Prior to landing in Orlando, American Airlines Flight 1684 from Dallas/Fort Worth, encountered a mechanical issue — an odor in the cabin. The aircraft, an Airbus A321 with 190 passengers and a crew of six, landed safely and taxied to the gate. The aircraft is currently out of service, as our maintenance team evaluates the aircraft. We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience."
