  • Body found floating at about 9:30 a.m. near Dragon Point
  • Boat tour guide spotted the body in the water and called 911
  • Melbourne Police said foul play likely not involved

Melbourne Police said a boat tour guide saw what appeared to be someone floating in the water at about 9:30 a.m. near Dragon Point, which is where the Banana River and the Indian River merge.

Bob Ballinger, who runs Dolfun Tours, spotted the body.

"I saw what looked like a pelican's shoulder blades in the water," Ballinger said.

He was headed to pick up his tour group when he spotted the body.

"Turns out, it was a person and they were face down," he said.

Ballinger called 911, and several law enforcement agencies responded, including Indian Harbour Beach Police and the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.

The body was transported to the medical examiner's office to determine a cause of death.

"All indications at this time indicate that foul play was not involved," Melbourne Police said in a statement.
