A driver died after crashing into several vehicles along Semoran Boulevard on Friday, shutting down all north bound lanes for hours.

The crash happened as police began pursuing the reportedly reckless driver.

Orlando Police said that just after 1 p.m., they received a call  in the area about a driver.

When police began to pursue him near the intersection of Semoran and T.G. Lee Boulevard, the driver crashed into six cars and a Publix tractor-trailer.

The driver, later identified as John W. Simonson, 66, died. All others involved were not seriously injured.

Crime scene investigators are working to figure out what happened.
