  • Cold front in the state Thursday

It’s feeling a little more summer-like across the area, as warm and humid air makes a return. We’ll keep it around through Wednesday, and may even flirt with record heat the next couple days.

A cold front brings some showers into the state by Thursday.

A ridge of high pressure sliding off the mid-Atlantic coast has shifted our flow out of the southeast, ushering in more warm and humid air. As temperatures climb even more the next couple days, we may flirt with record highs in the mid to upper 80s in a few locations.

Our attention then turns to a strong cold front coming across the central US. This front is forecast to slide across the peninsula Thursday, bringing a chance for scattered showers, and another shot of cool and dry air for the end of the week.

Daytime highs slip back closer to seasonable by Friday. In the tropics, we’ve quieted down once again, with the season ending Wednesday.

Wave heights are bumping up, and conditions in the surf may prove pretty good by midweek. We’re looking at poor to fair conditions Tuesday as a stronger southeast to east-southeast windswell developing, with an occasional 5 foot wave in the mix. The rip current risk remains moderate, but could elevate this week.
