  • Remains found about 100 feet into the woods

A resident of Ashford Lakes Drive in Ormond Beach found the remains in a wooded area behind his home Wednesday while looking for his drone that had crashed, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.

The man called deputies.

The remains were located about 100 feet into the woods in the Flagler County portion of the Hunter's Ridge subdivision and might have been there "for at least a year or two," deputies said.

The medical examiner was called to the scene. There were no obvious signs of trauma.

Deputies said it's too early in the investigation to know the sex or age of the remains.
