Although Hurricane Matthew is not expected make landfall in Florida, the coastline and other surrounding areas were hit with strong winds.

Damage was reported in multiple counties, including Brevard, Flagler, Orange, Seminole and Volusia.

MAJOR DAMAGE REPORTS

BREVARD

  • Cape Canaveral Hospital is closed until further notice. No word as to why. It was the first hospital to be evacuated.
  • All Boil Water Notices have been rescinded.

  • The Blue Beach Apartments in Titusville had to be evacuated after the roof came off the building.
    "The roof just started flying off and water was pouring in the roof on the sixth floor," said resident David Brague. "We have no roof the water is just pouring in all the floors I don't even no when we will be able to get back in."

  • Severe damage, including trees down on houses, power wires down, property damage and other issues.

FLAGLER

  • Part of State Road A1A in Flagler Beach washed away.
    Authorities say the washout was from the storm surge. The washout appears to be from about 12th Street to 24th Street.
    Some of the stairs leading to the beach are also damaged or no longer there.
    Authorities have cut off all access to beachside portions of the county and say residents will be able to come back to their homes once it's safe.

  • Trees down, traffic signals out, some flooding throughout the county, along with property damage.

ORANGE

  • Many people in Bithlo are without water and electricity and dealing with damage in their mobile home park, Pine Isle Mobile Villa.

  • Trees down, traffic signals out, sporadic property damage throughout the county.

  • Thousands without power throughout the county. OUC says it will keep crews in the field until power is fully restored.

VOLUSIA

  • Utilities Commission New Smyrna Beach has restored power to 60 percent of customers.

  • Daytona International Speedway saw some damage, impacting lights, speakers, signage, fences and gates. Also, a picture of flooding at the speedway has been circulating on the Internet. That is an old picture from 2009. There is no flood damage at the speedway.

  • Sun Glo Pier in Daytona Beach Shores was destroyed.

  • Homes damaged in South Daytona.

  • Daytona Beach International Airport sustained minor damage, including no air conditioning in the terminal. The air traffic control tower and navigational equipment is on backup power with limited capabilities. The airport has resumed normal flight.

  • Flooding, widespread property damage, downed power lines, traffic signals out, trees down.
