For a real, working clown, what's happening to her business because of recent clown sightings in Brevard County isn't funny.

  • Cookie the Clown, a professional clown for years in Space Coast
  • Says clowns bring joy, creepy clowns not real clowns

Shannon Morgan has been a professional clown on the Space Coast for several years as "Cookie the Clown."

She attends childrens' birthday parties, goes to hospitals and nursing homes and sometimes even funerals.

The problem is local sightings of people posing as creepy clowns in woods and neighborhoods is affecting her business -- it's down 20 percent from last year.

"I'm hoping after Halloween that this nonsense is over," Morgan said. "The pranks are over and we can move forward bringing joy to people, and be real clowns."

Morgan says it's important for parents to make sure children know the difference between good and bad clowns.

She's hoping business gets better as the holidays approach.

Sightings of creepy clowns have popped up in Palm Bay and other areas in the last couple of months. They're the latest in a string of creepy clown sightings across the country.
