A man was injured during an officer-involved shooting Saturday morning in Volusia County, according to police.

The shooting happened at 1:11 a.m. near the Safari Lounge in Daytona Beach.

Police received reports of a large fight at the bar and that a man had grabbed a gun from his car.

When officers arrived, they say a man with a gun ran from them.

One officer chased him to Cherry Street. According to police, when officers asked the man to show his hands, he pulled out a gun.

An officer fired one round which grazed the suspect’s chest, according to the news release. The suspect was taken to Halifax Hospital for treatment.

The name of the suspect and the officer have not been released.

The officer, which has been on the force since 2010, will be placed on paid administrative leave.
