The body of man was found Sept. 8 at 21004 Parkcrest Drive after deputies received reports of a body buried on the property.

According to deputies, Susan and Sarah Kort told them that they found their father, Merlin Kort, dead when they arrived at his home.

During interviews, Kort’s daughters said they panicked and buried their father’s body. Investigators said the women told them Kort died from either a stroke or heart attack four or five years ago.

The body was turned over to the Medical Examiner’s Office. An autopsy report did not show any signs of blunt trauma, investigators said. The cause of death has not been determined.

A DNA test has been sent to a lab to determine the identity of the body and verify the story Kort's daughters provided deputies.

The case has been forwarded to the State Attorney’s Office, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
