  • Carlos Anglero turned himself in to Orange County Jail

Carlos Anglero faces a charge of shooting at, within or into a dwelling.

Another officer involved in the shooting, Stephanie Roberts, was fired, Ocoee Police Lt. Mike Bryant said Friday.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigated the February 2016 officer-involved shooting in Ocoee. At the time, the couple who lived there said Ocoee Police officers shot up their home, which is on the 400 block of Belhaven Falls Drive.

The couple said they and their 12-year-old son were sleeping when officers rang their door bell without identifying themselves.

One of the adults thought the person at the door was an intruder and grabbed a gun, they said, and that's when police opened fire.

Surveillance video from a neighbor's home showed police arriving at the home.

The couple said they called 911, and after the gunfire stopped, they were told to come out with their hands up. All three, including the boy, were handcuffed, they said.

Anglero turned himself into the Orange County Jail on Thursday night. He is suing the City of Ocoee for employment discrimination, Bryant said. The residents of the home also are suing the city in the wake of the incident.

Anglero's case is being prosecuted by the Office of the State Attorney, 9th Judicial Circuit.
