"I truly believe it's a brilliant idea. There's a lot of foodies in this area," said John Collazo, owner of Bad As's Sandwich food truck.

"I think doing a food truck lot, what the Food Truck Bazaar is trying to do, it gives people more options, it's something out of the ordinary," Collazo said.

TheDailyCity.com founder Mark Baratelli said the dedicated food truck lot at the corner of Edgewater Drive and John Young Parkway is an "experiment" to see the viability of the idea in Orange County.

The Daily City is known for sponsoring the Food Truck Bazaar, a traveling food truck event that makes monthly stops across Central Florida.

Chef Collazo, whose food truck features housemade meats, fresh loaves of bread, local organic produce and housemade potato chips, believes the "experiment" has mass appeal.

"Something I would say unorthodox, if you will. Instead of going to a cafeteria, you can just go, 'hey they've got 10 food trucks over there, let's check it out,'" Collazo said.

The dedicated food truck lot will feature a different food truck every weekday during the lunch hours of 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A calendar for the lot is available on the Daily City website.

In less than two years, Collazo's food truck has been so successful, he is putting the final touches on opening his first restaurant location in Orlando's Milk District neighborhood.

"It kind of became a little bit more overwhelming because a lot of people follow us all over town. So we just decided let's do a standalone restaurant," Collazo explained.

Customers were sparse on Thursday. It was the second day for the new event.

However, Collazo believes the unique idea will eventually take off.

"Of course it takes time to build a following, of course it takes time for people to get used to it being here but I know the market is there," Collazo said.
