Kentral Lamont Welch was a passenger of a 2010 Ford Fusion driven by 16-year-old Hayden Chandler Seymour of Rockledge that was traveling in the outside  lane on the southbound on U.S. 1 at around 9:55 p.m., according to FHP.

Angel Rivera Colon, 23, was driving a 1995 semi truck in the inside lane of U.S. 1 southbound, within a construction zone.

The two teens were driving behind Colon when he crossed into the outside travel lane.

Seymour attempted to avoid crashing into the semi truck by entering into the construction area, just past the cones, in the inside travel lane. As Seymour steered left, the front right of his car struck the left, rear of the semi truck, according to the FHP.

The FHP stated that everyone involved wore a seatbelt and that this is not an alcohol-related accident.

This is an ongoing investigation.
